A little help for your night.

Setup tips, recording help, purchases, and privacy controls — everything you need for a good first night.

Getting started

Microphone & setup check

Grant microphone access when asked, then run the 25-second room test from Tonight. It checks background sound; nothing is recorded.

Power & placement

Plug in your iPhone and place it within about a meter of your bed, microphone unobstructed. Never under a pillow while charging.

Apple Watch companion

Open SnoreSense on your paired Watch to see session status and controls. Your iPhone captures the audio; Watch microphone recording isn't available.

Widgets

Touch and hold the Home Screen, tap Edit → Add Widget, and search for SnoreSense. Lock Screen figures are hidden unless you turn them on.

Purchases & restore

Use Restore purchases with the Apple account that bought Pro. Manage subscriptions in your Apple account settings; request refunds at Report a Problem.

Privacy & deletion

Open Profile → Data & Privacy for retention, export, and deletion. See Your data controls.

Your first night

  1. Open Tonight and choose what to keep — highlights only is the default.
  2. Confirm you understand that the session records sounds in the room, and let others in the room know.
  3. Plug in your iPhone and place it near your bed, then start the session.
  4. Sleep as usual. You can lock your iPhone; SnoreSense keeps listening.
  5. In the morning, end the session and open your report to play back highlights and add notes.

Troubleshooting

A recording was interrupted

Check microphone permission, free storage, and the report's recording coverage. Phone calls and other audio interruptions can create gaps. If the app closed during a session, review the coverage rather than assuming the whole night was captured.

Too many sounds marked as snoring

Review clips and mark them as “Other sound” or “Not me” — your corrections shape the report. Turning off fans or moving the phone closer to you can also help.

Pro isn't unlocked

Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple account that made the purchase, then tap Restore purchases. If a purchase is still pending, it may take a few minutes to complete.

Apple Health context is missing

Check SnoreSense's permissions in the Health app. Context appears only when Health has data for that night; SnoreSense never fills gaps with estimates.

Frequently asked questions

Getting started

Which iPhones are supported?

SnoreSense runs on iPhone with iOS 27 or later. The optional Apple Watch companion needs watchOS 27 or later.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Everything works without signing up. Sign in with Apple is optional.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. Your iPhone does the recording. The Apple Watch companion is optional: it shows session status, lets you end or resume a session from your wrist, and shows last night’s summary.

Where should I put my iPhone?

On a bedside table within about a meter of your head, microphone uncovered, and plugged in to charge. Never under a pillow or in the bed while charging.

Can I lock my iPhone during a session?

Yes. Start the session, lock your iPhone, and go to sleep. In the morning, end the session to save the night.

Recording and reports

What is the Snore Index?

A score from 0 to 100 that summarizes how much likely snoring SnoreSense heard during the recorded part of your night. Lower means less snoring. It’s a personal trend measure, not a medical score.

Can I listen to my recordings?

Yes. Each morning report links to your likely-snoring highlights so you can play them back. By default SnoreSense keeps short highlights; Pro can keep the full night.

What if I share a room?

SnoreSense can’t reliably tell who made a sound. Let anyone in the room know you’re recording, and mark clips as “Not me” or “Other sound” so they don’t count toward your report.

Why does my report show gaps?

Phone calls, other apps using audio, low storage, or the app closing can interrupt a recording. Each report shows its recording coverage so you know how much of the night was analyzed.

It marked a fan or traffic as snoring. What can I do?

Review the clip and mark it as “Other sound” — your corrections update the report. Turning off fans or moving your iPhone closer to you also helps.

Privacy and your data

Where is my audio stored?

On your iPhone. Audio is analyzed on the device, and the clips you keep are saved in protected local files. SnoreSense doesn’t upload recordings.

How long is audio kept?

Retained audio is deleted automatically after 7, 30, or 90 days — 30 by default. Change it in Profile → Data & Privacy. Your reports and notes stay until you delete them.

How do I delete my data?

Delete a single night or its audio from the report, or delete all audio or all saved observations in Profile → Data & Privacy. Deleting the app also removes its data from that iPhone.

Can I export my data?

Yes, for free. Export any night as a PDF, or all your observations as JSON from Profile → Data & Privacy. Exports never include audio.

Does SnoreSense use Apple Health?

Only if you allow it. It reads available sleep and respiratory data to add context to your reports, and never writes to Apple Health.

Pro and purchases

What’s free, and what needs Pro?

Recording, morning reports, highlights, your last 7 nights, one experiment at a time, PDF reports, and data export are free. Pro adds unlimited history, 30 and 90-day trends, unlimited experiments, full-night audio, Apple Watch comparison, a multi-night clinician PDF, and advanced widgets.

How do I cancel Pro?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple — manage or cancel them in your Apple account settings. Canceling doesn’t delete your nights, and deleting the app doesn’t cancel a subscription.

How do I restore a purchase?

In the app, tap Restore purchases on the Pro screen or in Account, signed in with the same Apple account you used to buy Pro.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Health and availability

Is this a medical diagnosis?

No. SnoreSense is a personal wellness tool. It doesn’t diagnose sleep apnea or any other condition, or recommend treatment. If you’re worried about your breathing or sleep, talk to a healthcare professional.

Is there an Android version?

Not at the moment. SnoreSense is built for iPhone, with an optional Apple Watch companion.
